Renovating your house is a fun project. Choosing decors and painting is a step away from your stressful life.

However, figuring out where your furniture goes in the meantime is not fun.

Worrying about your furniture will ruin your moment. So, moving your furniture away from the area is the best solution. Move them where? You can temporarily store the furniture inside onsite storage units.

Why onsite storage units? What is so special about them?

    Onsite Storage Units Explained

Onsite storage units are shipping containers for storage purposes localmoves.com.au . They are basically the same as any other storage container. The difference is, these storage units are stored in your premises.

So, you can access these Melbourne storage containers onsite, anytime you want.

Why Move My Things to an Onsite Storage Unit?

Why move your things to a storage unit? Why not just move them to another room?

If you want to move your things to another room, that is completely fine. However, that can be a bit tricky if you only have one spare room.

You cannot just stuff everything inside. Your things can fall on top of each other because the room is too full.

Moreover, you cannot renovate the house all at once if you have to keep moving things from room to room. That will waste your time and frustrate you to no end.

So, the best thing to do is use an onsite storage unit. It is detached from your house, so it is like having a room outdoors.

It is also far better than storing your things in a storage facility. You can easily access your things if you need them to set a layout.

Benefits of Onsite Storage Units For Renovations

    Other than the extra space, onsite storage units are great for renovations because;

    1. No Driving Necessary

The storage unit will be delivered to your house with a truck. Then, to manoeuvre the unit, the worker will use a forklift.

All you need to do is make a booking and the unit will be on the way.

    2. Enough Space for All Your Furniture

    There are four standard sizes to choose from, which are;

    • 6ft Units = can store 2 bedrooms worth of things = 10 cubic metres capacity
    • 8ft Units = can store 2.5 bedrooms worth of things = 11.5 cubic metres capacity
    • 10ft Units = can store 3 bedrooms worth of things = 16-19 cubic metres capacity
    • 20ft Units = can store a whole house worth of things = 32-38 cubic metres capacity

You can choose depending on how many things you need to store away. If you are renovating a small house, the 6ft and 8ft units are the better choice.

A family home, on the other hand, would need 10ft or 20ft units. However, this is not always the case. If you only need to renovate a small area of your house, use the small units.

The best thing to do is to measure the cubic metres of your things. The formula is Length (L) x Width (W) x Height (H). Remember to use metres as the unit length.

Then, compare the total cubic metres with the unit capacity.

    3. Cheap Furniture Storage Option

Onsite storage units are 50% cheaper than self-storage. Different sizes have different prices. So, you pay based on how much space you need.

Look at the table below for a detailed price breakdown.

    6ft Units 8ft Units 10ft Units 20ft Units
$3.27 per day $4.7 per day $6.13 per day $8.56 per day

The smaller the unit, the cheaper the price. However, don’t choose based on price. Choose depending on how much space you need.

Three 6ft units still have a smaller amount of capacity than one 20ft unit. Plus, the price will be more expensive. So, once again, choose based on the space you need.

    4. Durable and Weatherproof

Storage units are made from quality steel material. This steel material is waterproof, dustproof, and vermin-proof.

So, exposure to the elements is not a problem. Your things will be as protected as they are indoors.

Moreover, the steel units are impenetrable. It is almost impossible to break in using brute force. So, your things will be safe outdoors.

    58. Doesn’t Get In Your Way

Because the unit is outdoors, it won’t be in your way. You don’t have to skirt around it when you decorate your house.

Your things will be fully protected, as well. The unit is a distance away from your house, not too close and not too far. So, there is no chance of paint splatters or sawdust reaching your unit and your things.

    6. No Fixed-Term Contract

Renovating can be quick, only taking you a week to finish. Some renovations can take months or even years.

Everyone has different situations. Storage companies understand this and will give you no fixed-term contract.

You just need to pay week by week for your unit. With this system, you can rent for a week or a year, it doesn’t matter.

Then, a week before you want to return the unit, give notice to the company. They will come and collect the unit.

    Conclusion

Onsite storage units can help you renovate your house quicker. With all of your things stored away, you don’t have to worry about them getting dirty.

Using storage units is also better than just cramming your things inside one room. You will risk them getting damaged. Moreover, you will finish renovating quicker if your things are all out of the house.

Extra benefits of onsite storage units are the convenience and the cheap price. Your unit will be delivered to you, not the other way around. They are also 50% cheaper than traditional self-storage.

The units are also durable and can withstand being stored outdoors. Being stored outdoors also means that it can’t get in your way.

The best thing about storage units is the fact that there are no-fixed term contracts. So, you can rent for as little or as long as you like.
