The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education recently announced its results for the 2018-2023 Education News Exam. This exam is a standardized test for exiting secondary school students which often serves as an entrance requirement for college and university programs.
The overall pass percentage of the exam this year was 86.0%. Boys outperformed girls again with a pass percentage of 88.9%. Girls had a pass percentage of 82.2%. The total number of students who appeared for the exam was 32,696 and a total of 28,145 students cleared the examination.
Amongst the 10 districts in the state, North Goa emerged as the frontrunner with 91.3% pass percentage. This made them the highest among other districts. South Goa narrowly came in second with 87.2% pass percentage. The other districts each recorded less than 80% pass percentage.
The top 5 performing schools were the Amity International School, Shree Damodar Higher Secondary School, G.G. International School, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, and St. Xavier’s higher secondary school. All five of these schools recorded an impressive pass percentage of more than 96%.
Other than the state’s ‘angry dad’, who reportedly shouted at his daughter for scoring only 81%, everyone is elated with the promising performance displayed by the students. The chief education officer expressed his delight at the results and congratulated the students, staff and the board for the performance.
