The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recently announced the results of its Class 10 Term 1 Board examinations. The board has said that the overall pass percentage has been recorded higher than last year, indicating a noteworthy improvement in the academic performance of Class 10 students.
This year, a total of 16.4 lakh students had registered for the CBSE Class 10 examinations. Out of the total, around 13.7 lakh students have passed the examinations, recording an overall pass percentage of 83.4%. This is an improvement when compared to last year, where 81.1% of students achieved a passing score.
The overall pass percentage for boys stood at 80.1%, while the percentage for girls was higher at 86.7%. In terms of regions, the CBSE elicited the best performance from the Delhi region, where 90.68% of students passed the examinations. Other notable regions include Chandigarh (88.48%) and Ajmer (86.51%).
The CBSE also has provided digital mark sheets to the Class 10 examinees via the ‘DigiLocker’ app. This app is available on both Android and iOs platforms, and can be easily accessed to avail digital mark sheets. Students can also download their provisional certificates and other documents directly from their digital locker, making the process of obtaining the official documents much easier.
The CBSE has credited the better examination performance to its efforts in revamping the Class 10 syllabus. It has reduced the burden of the students and refocused on conceptual understanding and skill development. This restructuring is expected to garner positive results in future years as well, helping students become better prepared for their upcoming higher studies.
